How much does Vyndamax cost, and how has the price changed?
Launched at $225,000 — the most expensive cardiovascular drug on the market — the list price reached nearly $268,000 by 2024, while the net price of ~$194,000 still far exceeds what ICER considers cost-effective.
At launch in 2019 the list price was $225,000 a year, making tafamidis the most expensive cardiovascular drug on the market. The pivotal trial's own principal investigator, Dr Mathew Maurer, called the price unjustified and "a particularly egregious example of price gouging." According to a public comment filed with the FDA, the list price rose to $234,900 by 2022. By 2024, ICER reported a wholesale acquisition cost of nearly $268,000, or about $194,000 after discounts. That gap of roughly $74,000 between list and net price represents rebates and discounts paid to intermediaries and payers, which matters because many patients' cost-sharing is calculated on the list price rather than the net price.
